Alternate Number Dialing is a feature in SpitFire Predictive Pro (Pro only, not Access version) that allows your Dialer to dial up 4 different phone numbers in an attempt to reach a live person.
It will dial alternate numbers on any or all of the following results of dialing the primary number: a no answer, an answering machine, a busy signal or an operator intercept.
Enabling Alternate Number Dialing
To enable the feature in the Campaign software we must modify some parameters in the configuration file for each Campaign window.
Note: Please make sure you stopped dialing and closed the Campaign screen completely.
1. Double-click My Computer and then Local Disk C:
2. Double-click on the SPD folder and then on the 1.ini file to modify the settings for the Campaign 1 window.
3. Now look for the following parameters:
AlternateNumDialingAM=False
AlternateNumDialingFax=False
AlternateNumDialingBusy=False
AlternateNumDialingNA=False
AlternateNumDialingOther=False
4. Set each of the these parameters to True.
5. Save the file by clicking File->Save.
Note: his process must be completed for every Campaign window with which you want to use this feature. Campaign 2 would use 2.ini, etc.
Importing A List That Has Alternate Numbers
In order to use the Alternate Number Dialing feature, you must import a list that has more than one phone number.
1. Open Listmaker and click on Utilities->Import List as you normally would to import a list.
2. Select your text or csv file and map the fields into their respective places. See example below:
Notice that the alternate number fields are at the bottom of the screen. In this example, there is a Mobile and Work number. Even thought the fields names are Cell # and Home #, you don't have to use those types of numbers specifically. Any phone number can be mapped to these fields.
What you will see in the Line Activity window when an alternate number is dialed is the word (alt) after the phone number
Configuring This Feature to Dial
Alternate Numbers if the Primary Number is Blank
By default, both ListMaker and the SpitFire Campaign software treat records with blank Primary Phone numbers (Voice# field in ListMaker) as Bad records and will not import or dial those records. With SpitFire Predictive Pro version 1.2.93, an option has been added to allow the Campaign software to automatically look for alternate numbers in the record,even if the Primary number field is blank.
The reason for this is that if you are using a list with alternate phone numbers, your list may not have a phone number for every field in every record. There may be some records with a secondary, but no primary phone number, etc.
There are 2 places where this feature has to be handled in the SpitFire software, the importing of the list with ListMaker Pro and there is a parameter in the configuration file for the Campaign software.
Importing the List
When importing a list that may not have phone numbers in the field you are selecting as the Primary phone number field or Voice# field, the features that prevent duplicate and bad phone numbers must be disabled. This is set in 2 places:
1. When in the Import ASCII window, click on Options and uncheck the Eliminate Bad Voice Numbers and Eliminate Duplicate Numbers.
2. Also, at the point where you save the name of the new list, check the Allow Duplicate Voicephone option.
IMPORTANT: Because ListMaker is not removing duplicates in this scenario, YOU will be responsible for removing them from your csv or text file BEFORE you import the list.
Configuring the Campaign to Dial records with Blank Primary Phone Numbers
To enable the feature in the Campaign software we must modify a parameter in the configuration file for each Campaign window.
Note: Please make sure you stopped any dialing and closed the Campaign screens completely.
1. Double-click My Computer and then Local Disk C:
2. Double-click on the SPD folder and then on the 1.ini file to modify the settings for the Campaign 1 window.
3. Now look for the following parameter:
AllowZeroPrimaryPhoneLength=
4. Set this parameter to True.
5. Save the file by clicking File->Save.
Once this has been set, the Campaign software will no longer ignore records that have no phone number in the Primary Phone field.
